The meeting was held as part of the review of the annual reports of the Ministry of Tourism 2021 based on the key performance indicators assigned to the ministry. In this meeting a presentation was given by Ministry of Tourism officials highlighting work carried during the year 2021 regarding to seek investors in the tourism sector, establish policies for "positioning" and "branding" Maldivian tourism, increasing the revenue generated from tourism, and compiling reports on the development of the tourism sector, to maintain the records of information required to register and issue permits from the Ministry of Tourism, to maintain the health and safety standards of the tourism industry, and to formulate a tourism master plan, to increase the role of Maldivians in the tourism sector, to build human resources and professionals, to assess the financial statements, audit, institutional framework of the Ministry, internal control and the vision and confidence of stakeholders in the Ministry. The ministry also clarified the information that members wished to inquire further about the annual reports and presentation given by them. Officials of the Auditor General’s Office also attended the meeting, as the committee decided to allow relevant officials from the Auditor General’s Office to participate in the meeting held to review the annual report of the institution.
