ޚުލާސާ

The agenda of today's meeting was to discuss the issues raised before the committee. The committee examined the status of the cases that have already been referred to it and discussed and decided on how to proceed with the cases. In the case of the committee's proposal to amend Article 201 of the Parliament Rules, the committee decided that the committee would take a decision separately after sending the matter to the PG Group of MDP for discussion and sharing its views with the committee. In the case of the 'Now' newspaper seeking live feed of the parliament sittings, the committee has set October 31, 2022 as the deadline for the committee to decide the matter and approved the formation of a sub-committee consisting of three members of the committee. In addition to this case, the sub-committee will study two other cases. These include a request for review of the committee's decision on providing vip lounge services at Velana International Airport to the members of parliament and the case sent by the Ministry of Defense after conducting a security assessment of the parliament building. The deadline set by the committee to decide on both the issues is October 31, 2022. Another sub-committee comprising three members of the committee has also been constituted to resolve the issue of a problem with the sound system during the IPU meeting and the lack of hearing at the places where it should have been heard while speaking on the floor of the House. The deadline set by the committee is also 31st October 2022. From January 2019 to June 2019, the report prepared by the security contingent under the supervision of the Sergeant-at-Arms was examined and the request for the representation of the people to make parliamentary seats in a manner that does not discriminate between a particular constituency was scheduled for the next date of meeting of the committee (October 24, 2022). Further, Since Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir, who had signed the no-confidence motion against Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture, Mr. Zaha Waheed, withdrew his signature the deadline for the issue was set by committee as 10th November 2022. The sub-committee has fixed November 10, 2022 as a deadline to decide the matter. Lastly, the committee set a deadline for the issue regarding the establishment of a correctional center in Nekurendhoo, the issue of the important points highlighted by Villa College in its discussions with the People's Majlis, the issue of the committee's recommendation on the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Villa College and the People's Parliament and the issue regarding the submission of a performance audit report of the Committees of the People's Majlis as 10th November 2022.
