In this meeting committee reviewed letter sent by Fonadhoo constituency member Moosa Siraj regading the concerns of the fishermen of L.Atoll. In this regard committee decided to send a letter to the member to share information sent from Horizon Fisheries Private Limited and Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture regarding this issue. Secondly, in this meeting committee discussed about submission report on ILO Instrument sent by Ministry of Economic Development. Committee decided to adopt the report as it and send parliament for approval. Committee also decided to file annual report of Ministry of Economic Development and Labor Relations Authority for the year 2019 since detailed scrutiny was carried out by the committee on 36th meeting of the committee held on 24 October 2022 and recommendations were shared with the ministry before. Furthermore, in this meeting 2 more issues were proposed by the committee members for further review in the committee. The first issue was proposed by North Thinadhoo constituency member Abdul Mughnee to review the issues faced by Bank of Maldives customers regarding withdrawal of money from customers’ accounts fraudulently and multiple othe scam cases. After discussions about this issue committee decided to send this issue to Committee on State Owned Enterprises for further review as bank of Maldives falls under that committee’s mandate. Second issue was proposed by MP Ibrahim Nazil to check if there is any possibility of exemption off customs duty to be paid for generators imported for RSW installations in boats. In this regard, committee contacted Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture and was informed that duty exemption is provided to products imported for the purpose of Fisheries and Agriculture upon requests made from the importer/responsible person to the ministry. Therefore, committee decided not to pursue this issue further as solution is already available.
