Public Accounts Committee's 9th meeting for the year 2023

It was decided to agenda first and second number of today’s agenda, Asset Recovery Report received from Maldives Monetary Authority and Reports received from Transparency Maldives regarding the corruption in the health sector at a later date. Afterwards, the below-mentioned decisions were made to respond to the issues and to obtain required information regarding the issues. 1. Regarding the resolutions from B. Kihaadhoo Council and GDh. Dhaandhoo Council to review the salary of their administrative staffs, the committee decided to inform them that their request was one of the duties of the National Pay Commission. 2. Regarding the request from GDh. Thinadhoo Council to review the salary of the Council members and their administrative staffs, the committee decided to inform them that the committee is not currently considering reviewing the salary and allowances of the councils. 3. The committee decided to obtain information from the Ministry of Finance regarding the claim of V. Atoll Council regarding the rent of MVR9,333,554.84 to be received for “V. Atoll Shop” from the ministry. 4. Regarding the request from the National Integrity Commission to increase the commission’s budget, the committee decided to inform the commission that the work of Budget Committee has completed, hence, to request further budget from the Ministry of Finance. 5. The committee decided to obtain information from Maldives monetary Authority regarding the Bank of Maldives issues received from individuals. Furthermore, the committee discussed the audit reports of HA. Atoll Councils.
