Summary

In this meeting, the committee discussed the issue received from South Henveyru Constituency Member Hussain Shaheem regarding former Speaker, President Mohamed Nasheed and since the committee received a letter from South Henveriru Constituency Member Hussain Shaheem on 06th May 2024, requesting to take back the issue, the committee decided to file the issue as per the request. The committee discussed the issue submitted by then Faresmaathodaa Constituency member Hussain Mohamed Latheef regarding the refusal of Attorney General to attend the Parliamentary Sitting. As the Attorney General later submitted his written explanations stating that the reason for not attending the sitting was to defend his position in written, the committee decided to file the issue as well. The issue submitted by Kelaa Constituency member Adam Shareed claiming that Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development Dr. Ali Haider Ahmed gave conflicting answers to the same question asked during two different committees was discussed among the members. Dhiggaru Constituency Member Ikram Hassan proposed and Gan Constituency Member Mohamed Visam seconded to send the issue to investigative institutions to further investigate the issue. However, this proposal was not passed by the votes. Hence the committee decided to file the issue without further discussion. A letter received stating that Isdhoo Constituency member Ali Hameed held in police custody and released from custody later that evening was shared with the members. Furthermore, the committee discussed an issue received from PNC Parliamentary group Leader, Fonadhoo Constituency member Moosa Siraj claiming that some members from MDP harmed the members of PNC during a Parliament Sitting. South Thinadhoo Constituency Member Abdulla Saneef proposed to file the issue without further discussion due to the lack of details provided and evidence. It was seconded by Gan Constituency Member Mohamed Visam and passed by the majority.
