Summary

- With regard to the information shared in the committee meeting with the civil societies, committee decided to send a letter to Judiciary Committee to look into the issue that the mandatory Sexual Harassment Committees are not established in some institutions. - Secondly, the committee discussed on the increased need of social health protection for the families living below the poverty line during covid-19 situation. And, the committee decided to bring this issue to the attention of Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services and request them to identify such families and share with the committee the actions that can be taken on the issue. - Next, the committee decided to request AG for his opinion on deducting days from annual leave for the employers who are isolated or quarantined due to covid-19 pandemic. - Committee passed the report on the issue regarding the termination of a 15 year jail sentence of a child abuse perpetrator by High Court. - Committee also decided to discuss in another meeting, the issues faced by people with special needs and the issue on the lack of cooperation from the relevant authorities to foster families.
