In this meeting, the Committee discussed the Issue sent by the Public Accounts Committee of the People's Majlis requesting to comment on the salary and benefits structure proposed for elected officials in local councils, and decided to respond to the matter highlighting the following issues. 1. In atolls without a mayor, as the president of the atoll council is responsible for representing their entire atoll, implementing a similar pay structure for mayors and presidents of the atoll councils and to decrease the pay gap between the two positions; and 2. To decrease the gaps between the salary for presidents and vice presidents and the salary for the members of island councils. Additionally in this meeting, the Committee discussed Issues received from the public.
