Introduction

The committee was established at the 2nd sitting of the 20th People's Majlis on June 3, 2024. Under article 254 and 255 of the Rules of Procedure of the People's Majlis, citizens have the opportunity to submit petitions to the Petitions Committee of People's Majlis regarding a bill that has been introduced to the Parliament or any matter connected with the business pending before the Parliament and also on any matter of general public interest. Henceforth, under article 117 of the Rules of Procedure of the People's Majlis, mandates of the committee are to examine every Petition referred to it, find additional evidences and to suggest remedial measures either in a concrete form applicable to the case under review or to prevent such cases in future, and to submit committee's report if necessary to the Parliament.
