In this meeting, the committee discussed regarding the 15th sitting of 3rd term of 2023, presided by Vilufushi Constituency Member Hassan Afeef and 16th sitting of 3rd term of 2023 presided by Deputy Speaker Eva Abdulla, both the sessions held regarding of resolutions seeking the motion of no confidence of the Speaker. Milandhoo Constiency member Ali Riza proposed that these members presided over the Parliament sessions have committed acts that infringe upon the dignity of the Parliament. It was seconded by South Thinadhoo South Constituency member Abdulla Saneef and passed unanimously. Furthermore, since Article 75 of the Constitution states that posts shall not be used to promote the caste interests of a Member of Parliament or any other person who has special relations with that member, Dhiggaru Constituency member Ikram Hassan proposed to recommend General Purpose Committee to amend the rules of the Parliament in a way that members presiding over the proceedings of resolutions seeking the motion of no confidence of the Speaker or Vice-President of the Parliament does not have chance to caste such interests.
